Position: Lead Clarsach Tutors and Student Trainee

Location: Muirhouse

Job Description: Lead Tutors
Our weekly lessons programme will deliver an inspiring and engaging experience of music for our participants. Successful applicants will be required to carry out the following tasks:

Plan and deliver weekly group instrumental lessons during school term-time.
Follow and implement our Child Protection Policy at all events, including upholding a duty of care to class participants.
Maintain simple records in order to track class participants’ progress.
Establish relationships with our project partners.
Prepare pupils for performances.
Ensure that you adhere to health and safety standards, are adequately insured and work in line with child protection legislation.
Attend 3 CPD training days plus 2 end of term meetings.

Excellent self-management and organisational skills
Resourcefulness and the ability to make things happen
Willingness to try new directions and be flexible

An understanding of the challenges facing children in deprived areas
Experience working in communities

Job Description: Trainee
We are looking to employ one student trainee, who will work closely with the project manager and tutors to gain experience, skills and understanding about delivery of youth music activities. The position is open to harpists aged 15+. They may be young students, at the start of their career, or experienced harpists, but who have little education experience.

Our trainee will have the opportunity to
Attend all training days and meetings
Shadow tutors at lessons
Devise lesson and activity plans and get feedback
Have monthly training sessions with the project manager to gain experience with how to write funding grants, apply for sponsorship, organise courses, budgeting, reporting, evaluation etc.

Required Qualities:
experienced harp player
enthusiasm and eagerness to learn more about education
