The Website Developer will work with the Scottish Fisheries Museum and Casting the Net Project Officer in creating a stand alone website for the new partnership project. He/she will develop and design a website to:

- Hold photographs and stories generated by a series of oral histories, to be uploaded by project staff

- Hold photographs and stories uploaded by the general public (and include permissions form for use of information)

- Provide a ‘search’ function (based on criteria still to be developed) for staff and website visitors to use

The techniques used (coding, database, CMS, security etc.) should be chosen to be easy to maintain and to have a long useful life before further updating is required. The chosen contractor must be able to advise on the appropriate choice of techniques and, in particularly, the security aspects. They will work closely with staff at SFM in the handover of the website, including training, to ensure that the website has longevity and a sustained digital life.

Skills & Experience:
- Qualification in web development, web design or equivalent

- Familiarity with common operating systems and servers, databases and web programming, networking and security

- Experience of training staff and volunteers in using new systems

- An understanding of web development standards

- A good appreciation of design, graphics, usability and interactivity

- Project management skills

- An ability to work with minimum supervision whilst being reflexive to needs
