Community Artist Required (Mural Painter)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced community artist who will be able to work with groups within the Whitburn community to generate ideas for large-scale murals through the delivery of taster workshops.

The successful candidate must have experience not only in working with the community but also in outdoor mural painting. They should be able to take the ideas generated at community workshops and create a vibrant series of work that they will then be expected to paint onto 3 different shop shutters.

Artists will work with 3 different groups and will be paid £25 per/hr for a series of 6 2 hour workshops, Totalling a pay £750 for community work.

The successful candidate will then be expected to, using the ideas from the workshops design and then paint 3 different murals. For each completed mural the pay will be £450.

Material costs will be covered and the artist will be expected to provide a workshop brief and a detailed list of required materials prior to the commencement of the work.

All applications should include a covering letter and a comprehensive CV detailing the artists experience. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work in the UK as documentary proof of this will be requested at interview.

The closing date for applications is Friday 12th May 2017. Interviews will take place in Modern art @ Whitburn in the week commencing 15th May 2017.

All workshops should be completed by Friday the 16th of June in order to allow time for designs to be made. The painting of the murals will commence 29th June and should be completed by the 7th of September, successful artists will be expected to manage there own time on site, the majority of the painting work should be completed in the evenings through the week or all day on Sundays.
